Open Application for BIP – Bridging Cultures through Translation and Film Subtitling
We are excited to announce the start of the application period for the Erasmus Blended Intensive Program (BIP) on Bridging Cultures through Translation and Film Subtitling, hosted by our partner university, Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Iasi, Romania.
A Blended Intensive Programme is a short-term physical mobility with an online part (virtual component).

The BIP will take place between the 11th of May and the 15th of May 2026 in Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Iasi, Romania. There will also be a mandatory virtual component.
Requirements:
To be a student at Shumen University (undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students).
English Language: Level B1
What do you get?
Erasmus grant: 79 euros per day (example: 7 days physical mobility + travel support about 200 euros)
ECTS credits: 3
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate awareness of cultural and cinematic particularities as reflected in film subtitling.
- Show understanding of film language and technical considerations relevant to audiovisual translation.
- Apply collaborative approaches to subtitling in an academic and intercultural context.
- Make informed contributions to decisions regarding film selection for subtitling projects
